INITIATIVES WE LOVE

Each day, through innovative partnerships, concrete initiatives and our sharing of best practices — both inside our malls and throughout their local ecosystems — we strive to live up to our commitments to sustainability and innovation. With one simple promise: to take action in the community.

Secondhand Outlet opens at Metro - prices dropping every day until everything's gone

Secondhand Outlet has opened at Metro in Lørenskog, introducing a unique circular retail concept. The store is restocked with new secondhand items every Friday, and prices then drop each day until Thursday, when every item costs just NOK 5. By week’s end, the goal is empty shelves. Bjarte Rydland, Managing Director of Bærekraftig AS, the company behind the concept: “The aim is to sell out everything within a week!”

The store is fully self-service and run by Gjenbruken on a volunteer basis. Remaining garments are either reused, donated, or repurposed, ensuring minimal waste.

Trygve Kolstad Gimse, Center Manager at Metro Senter: “We’re delighted to welcome Secondhand Outlet to Metro. The concept fits perfectly with our visitors’ growing interest in reuse and sustainability, while adding something new to our tenant mix.”

The first Secondhand Outlet opened at Kvadrat in Sandnes, and the concept is now expanding based on strong local engagement and results.
