ZÓCALO EXPANDS – OPENING NEW RESTAURANT AT EMPORIA

Emporia welcomes Zócalo to its food court, Umami – where traditional Mexican cuisine meets fresh Californian food culture. The new restaurant marks Zócalo’s second location in Malmö.

With roots in the taquerias and street food scene of San Francisco’s Mission District, Zócalo brings its own food philosophy: Fresh Happy Mex – focused on quality ingredients, clear information about contents through its “Honest Menu” initiative, and a wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes. Julius Dahlberg, CEO of Zócalo: – Our menu includes more than 30 vegetarian options and nearly 100 dishes featuring proteins like pulled pork, halal chicken, and breaded fish. We want our guests to know exactly what they’re eating.

Today, Zócalo operates more than 20 restaurants internationally, with a combined turnover exceeding SEK 100 million. Its expansion is driven by a well-established franchise model, enabling food entrepreneurs to operate restaurants in partnership.

– Emporia is a great example of how to create a destination for both shopping and experiences. Our strong presence in Denmark and Emporia’s proximity to Copenhagen were also key factors in choosing this location, Julius continues.

Martin Lundquist, Center Manager at Emporia: – We’ve been looking for a concept to complement and diversify our food offering – and we found that in Zócalo. Their menu and concept are a welcome addition to the Umami District.

Emporia currently hosts 29 restaurants, most of which are in the Umami District – a vibrant meeting place for food from around the world.
