THE CELEBRATION OF ART, CULTURE & NATURE CONTINUES

With the desire to create a visual experience in Bruuns Galleri, Aarhus artist Ruth Foster Crone was invited to create a universe full of good energy, joy, positiveness, and togetherness.

As Bruuns Galleri turns 20 years old, we wanted to celebrate with something more permanent and thought-provoking which our visitors may enjoy as well. We invited Ruth Foster Crone and she has visualized different situations involving people - hugging, holding hands, a mother holding her child. She has used nature and fauna to emphasize what grows and blossoms in these situations. She believes that relationships are like a garden. Remember to water, weed, and shield the sun when it’s at its strongest - and then there’s room for growth, says Marketing Manager Sascha

Instead of the tangible, Crone’s focus is on the emotional interactions that take place when people meet and interact. Inspired by meetings with friends and family for chatting, having a coffee, bonding, sharing thoughts and stories, she has created art that reflects the act of creating experiences and memories in everyday life.Crone’s intention with the art is to create life and a bubbling dynamic feeling.

I was particularly mindful of using artistic elements that went beyond the visual aspect. I wanted to create an emotional connection between the viewers and the artwork, where they could read between the lines and experience a deeper meaning. Therefore, I chose to incorporate transparent layers and details that allowed the viewers to see both the overall connections and the more subtle nuances in the artwork.

A central element in Crone’s decoration is the stained-glass windows, where she was inspired by the magical atmosphere that arises when light shines through.

The viewers are invited to experience a change in mood and atmosphere when entering the space and being surrounded by the artwork, she says.

Furthermore, she wanted to create a special experience in the passageway at the DSB entrance in Bruuns. By covering the windows from floor to ceiling with the artwork, she created a completely enveloping atmosphere. The viewers were drawn to the colors and perhaps tempted to walk through the passageway or simply immerse themselves in the study of the windows. This experience allowed them to carry a bit of everyday magic with them on their journey through the shopping center.

It was important for me to create an artwork that was not only aesthetically appealing but also conveyed a positive message. I included inspiring and uplifting words and phrases intended to evoke smiles and spread joy among the viewers. Nature was also used as a metaphor for connections and growth between people. I wanted to remind people of the importance of nurturing and cultivating relationships, much like a garden that needs to be watered and cared for to bloom, she concludes.

Art has taken a significant place at Bruuns Galleri, where you are able to hear birds sing when nature found its way into the shopping center. Street artist Mikkel Jessen has painted his well-known character Pip on nine pillars in the shopping center.
