SUPPORTING CHILDREN’S CULTURE AND READING IN PARTILLE

Steen & Strøm is proud to support the non-profit organization Lilla Bokskåpet in establishing Barnens Litteraturhus, a cultural pilot project "Knyckertzgränd", designed to inspire children’s reading, creativity, and love of stories.

By hosting the interactive exhibition Knyckertzgränd, Allum contributes to increasing children’s access to culture and literature. This aligns closely with Steen & Strøm’s CSR strategy, where one of our core pillars is Serving Communities – transforming our centers into inclusive hubs where local needs are heard, understood, and met. Supporting children’s access to culture and reading is a natural extension of this commitment.

As Center Manager Albert Aguilar says: “Encouraging children’s reading and cultural interest by providing a space for this purpose is something we are genuinely happy to do.”

The initiative is strongly backed by the Municipality of Partille, which views the project as an important step in strengthening access to high quality cultural experiences for children and young people.

Knyckertzgränd is an interactive, story based exhibition rooted in the literary world of the Knyckertz (Pincher) family and is now open to preschools and schools across the Västra Götaland region, as well as the general public. The project aims to become the foundation for a future, expanded children’s cultural center where different literary worlds are brought to life.

The opening of Knyckertzgränd marked an important milestone for the project. As described by Emma, founder of Lilla Bokskåpet:

“At the end of April, we were finally ready to open the interactive, scenographic play exhibition based on the books about the Pincher family. Our goal was to create a memorable experience and a place visitors can return to again and again. The opening day was filled with activities, literature, and art, with the authors Anders Sparring and Per Gustavsson, exhibition designer Jovanna Remaeus, and several local creators taking part. This project would not have been possible without the support of the Municipality of Partille, Partille Energi, the Skandia foundation ‘Idéer för livet,’ and valuable local partners. Now, we are excited to continue building an inspiring place for children, families, preschools, and schools to explore literature and have fun.”
