SILVAN TO OPEN NEW URBAN CONCEPT STORE AT BRUUNS GALLERI

We are delighted to share that DIY and home improvement chain Silvan will open a new city format store at Bruuns Galleri in central Aarhus in late May 2026.

The 700 sq m unit will mark Silvan’s 12th city store in Denmark and its fifth location in the Aarhus area. For Bruuns Galleri, the addition strengthens the center’s retail mix and enhances its relevance for residents living in and around the city center.

“We are very pleased to welcome Silvan. The opening means that many people living near Bruuns Galleri will have a DIY store within walking distance of their homes. It’s a concept that will clearly add value for our visitors,” says Claus Brændgaard, Regional Center Manager at Bruuns Galleri.

The new store is based on Silvan’s urban city concept, developed specifically for dense city living. The curated assortment focuses on home improvement, interior projects and personalized solutions, rather than traditional heavy building materials, and is aimed at customers living in urban apartments.

“With this concept, we address city dwellers who don’t just want to build a house but create a home. Being in a central shopping center allows us to be closer to customers in their everyday lives and become a natural part of city life, e make it easy and convenient to access the right products close to where people live,” says Klaus Dolmer, CEO of Silvan.

In addition to its tailored product range, the Bruuns Galleri store will offer several services, including tool rental, in-store cutting of shelves and boards, and paint mixing.

The opening will be Silvan’s fourth store in a shopping center nationwide. According to Dolmer, Aarhus represents a particularly strong market for the city concept.

*Our experience shows that the need to create and maintain a home is just as strong in cities as elsewhere. Many of our customers live in apartments, and in Aarhus we see strong demand for home solutions. The proximity of stores and easy access by foot, bike or public transport make the city concept especially effective here,“ he says. *
