AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH OKQ8. ENABLES PUBLIC CHARGING STATIONS IN ALLUM, EMPORIA, FIELD’S AND BRUUNS GALLERI

A cooperation agreement with OKQ8 regarding installation of a total of 240 electric car charging points at four of our main shopping centers in Sweden and Denmark has been signed. The first 60 charging points will be installed in Field's in Copenhagen.

The agreement is fully in line with Steen & Strom’s ESG strategy, ActForGood®, to reduce environmental footprint, and create added value for visitors as well as the communities in which the shopping centers are located.

In Sweden, the new charging stations will be implemented in Allum Shopping Center 2023 and in Emporia in Malmö, which together have approximately 12 million visitors annually. Each shopping center will have 30 charging points and 60 outlets with 50 each 22 kW Charge Amps Aura AC chargers and ten charging points with 50 kW Alpitronic HYC50 DC chargers.

“We are delighted to be able to offer convenient charging facilities to our visitors with electric cars. In OKQ8 we have a supplier who knows the market and has the user-friendly solution we were seeking. The installation of the charging stations creates added value for both our visitors and for the areas where the shopping centers are located, and is also in line with our ESG strategy, Act4Good™, to reduce environmental impact,” says Johan Forsgren, Head of Operations in Steen & Strøm.

The charging stations will be placed in special parking spaces which Steen & Strøm leases to OKQ8, who will in return oversee installation, operation and maintenance, which will ensure that the chargers are 98 percent available at all times.

“Electric car charging often takes place outside the traditional fuel station. That’s why we’re looking to install superchargers both at our existing stations and in places where people move, like busy shopping centers. We see that many electric car owners are asking for charging space in connection with shopping and parking and therefore it feels natural to us that we can now make this possible by installing super-fast chargers at two large shopping malls in both Gothenburg and Malmö”, says Agnes Palinski, Communications Manager at OKQ8.
